About

I am a Designer from Christchurch New Zealand. I have my own design business that is doing ok in the current recession. At the moment I am working on a number of design possibilities in the way of furniture, Rugs, Glass Art and Lighting As well as some residential and commercial projects. This keeps me very busy most days and nights and sometimes does my head in……. However things are moving forward if not painfully slow but better than not moving at all. I am a trained and qualified interior designer although I don’t like to use the term, as people do not understand the difference between a designer and decorator or stylist. So I get lumped into the “Oh so you are good at picking colours” and this makes me gnash my teeth together. I feel it is a bit like calling a doctor a nurse they both take care of people but they are at different ends of the spectrum.
I was so busy last year I didn’t know which way was up and felt like I was about to crash. I shut my office and moved home where I am as happy as the cat who got the cream. I am much healthier for the choice and have dropped my workload a lot some by my own hand others because of the time we find ourselves in. Being self employed is no picnic so why make it harder. Now I have time to stop and smell the roses or go mountain biking which, is what my blog is about. I had so much fun and had such a hoot grumbling about the whole experience with my partner from the time I picked up the pamphlet to the time I got home in agony and crawled into the shower to attempt to steam my troubles away and collect my thoughts that I decided I wanted to write about it and tell the world.
I have three cats they all keep me company while I am working in the home office.
I also have 5 grown children 4 boys and 1 daughter whom I love like the sun flower loves the sun.
I have an amazing partner of 7 years who is a bit of a bike addict and has been encouraging me for a few years now to get on a bike.
Then I have me the most complicated person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I love creativity of every kind and have my creative finger in too many pies to count except for writing which, I have also loved since childhood. This is another reason why I have decided to blog about my experiences as a mountain bike rider beginning this adventure at the age of 45 and about 45 pounds over weight. It is a chance to write, talk and evaluate on these things. I am looking forward to building on this blog with pictures and adventurer stories that may encourage others to get on their bikes or even meet other people and get to have a laugh at someone else expense without being mean and enjoying a laugh at my own expense aswell. I didn’t take enough pictures on the ride this weekend because through gritted teeth I asked him to stop taking pictures my grumpy…. beep…. but from now on I will take plenty so you can get a good idea of my ups and downs literally. I hope you will join me on this journey and have as many laughs and as much fun as I do.
