Hello world!

Hello anyone and everyone. Last weekend I had a Baptism of fire in my mountain biking experience. I went on a fun filled family fun ride at the flock hill Station in Christchurch NZ. OMG!!! This is mild to the language I was using on myself as I stumbled and grizzled my way through this ride. I was shameless in my bid to make my partner feel sorry for me. 3/4 of the way through the ride I yelled at him that I wanted to now take up road cycling. This was after I had just fallen head first into a pile of rocks at my first 35 degree stock trail down hill section and was riding over this really bumpy section that my aching body just coudn’t bare. Moments before I was walking down a second failed attempt at another down hill section, where through fear I forgot all the helpfull information my partner had given me on riding down hill, when I saw the climb home. This was suposed to be the down wood leg of the ride, only this wasn’t down hill or down anything for that matter. It was very very veerrryyy up up uuupppp hill…… I felt tears well up in my eyes my head, shoulder, leg and heart were in agony. I wondered why on earth I had decided to suggest we go on this ride. Oh Yes, it was me, who suggested this madness. I must have been in a PMT cycle or Menopausal somehting crazy like that. Then I remebered the brochure I was suckered in to this. The advert said Fun Ride…I was right into Fun yes I wanted a fun ride, not a race it said fun I thought, as everyone raced passed me at a zillion pedal revolutions a second…. Ok I am menopausal give me break ok!……… Yes this was a day you could take your kiddies on. Stop and enjoy the view…. if you didn’t want to get back for the barbe or spot prizes or night fall. You just had to take your picnic hamper with you in the form of protein bars and syrups because you wouldn’t be able to carry your bike and your child or the hamper and keep your balance as you crossed the knee deep stream. If you did manage to take the hamper you would have ditched it on one of the many very up hill sections. I had to walk up a couple of these my partner said they were some of the worst he had seen but I think he was trying to save some of my lost pride. I had another vision of the fun ride brochure as I was heading towards some rocks head first at full throttle; well not exactly full….. I had tried to brake a bit. big mistake, anyway into some boulders and rocks. I remembered this was a family day and those rocks were probably props, to make us feel like we were on a really hard out mountain bike ride just in case we didn’t already realise this. I imagined for a split second that they were cushions and they were not going to hurt me but that I would bounce off them laughing my head off. My head smashed into them at full force followed by my body powered by the full thrust of to many extra kilos just to make the impact feel more real than it already was. Man what the hell was I truly thinking. I went to the doc the day before the race for a few womanly blood tests but maybe I should have gone for a head read. Honestly the fun was all over at this point and I found a few extra words to use to describe this ride also begining with f. lol….. Boy was I grumpy. Anyway I managed to drag my hurt pride, broken gluteus maximus and aching mussels home with the love and support of my loving and caring partner, who bought the bike for me. We had the best barbe and he won a spot prize. We met some really cool people and had a ball. Would I do it again? Hell yeah!!!.. Would I believe the Brochures Hell No!!!! Did I have the best day, even though I am black and blue? Hell Yeah!!! Geraldine here we come in March. Flokin… Flock Hill Fun Ride See You Next year In Much Better Form.
